What a Year !

December 2013

As the year comes to a close it is a good time to review our accomplishments.
We planted an apple orchard and vineyard.
Completed the renovation of the farmhouse adding exterior landscape, decking and patios.
We enclosed the tractor shed, created the driveway and installed the entry fencing and gate.
The lofting shed was moved and is now a gathering place with customized table and chairs.
A unique firepit was constructed.
A hawk perch was constructed and approved by our local Redtail Hawk.
It has been a busy year and 2014 promises to be more exciting.
Thank you to our community of professionals and friends for all your hard work.
Happy New Years

DECEMBER 2012 ~ The Loafing Shed

I love the loafing shed.

I can envision horses getting out of the sun or seeking shelter from the rain.

The word loafing: to “idle one’s time away” is one that appeals to us.

We knew that we would not only save the structure but also relocate it where we could put it to use.

A major undertaking, carefully thought through and executed.

And, at last we and our guests can actually  loaf in the relocated shed while the horses watch from afar.

NOVEMBER 2012 ~ Clearing Around the Barn

Planning to see that barn ended up to be a huge project!

We needed to clear hillsides of berry bushes and remove years of established weeds, old concrete forms and other obstacles just to see around the building.

With help from our friends and their equipment we were able to move, shape and contour around the barn exposing its historic frame and character.

Now what to do with the loafing shed?

OCTOBER 2012 ~ We Bought The Farm!

Well we literally bought the farm and  acquired a GREAT 1940’s barn too.

We have discovered many friends in Freeland that know this property or have been on the property in the past.

We love to hear those stories, so send them our way.

One friend Dave just smiles and laughs as he recalls  his younger days in this barn…hmmm!

We will have to clear  the area to see it completely and clean out the interior which now houses an assortment of pigeons.

A little worn …but with great  bones..we can see the possibilities and they are exciting.

Pulling on those boots and getting to work...
